A tonic for the central nervous system and hormonal system, damiana was traditionally used in tea or incense form for its relaxing effects. Its restorative properties make it a valuable herb for mild mood related afflictions. 

As a stomachic and mild laxative, it is also particularly soothing for the gastrointestinal tract, and can be helpful in cases of constipation or nerve related digestive issues.
