Hi, I'm Hannah.
A qualified naturopath, herbalist, nutritionist, and the founder of Forage and Bloom.
My interest in herbal medicine grew from my background in hospitality. In my early twenties, I became fascinated by the craft of making coffee; how the origin of a plant, the way it was prepared, and the method of extraction could completely change the flavour profile and experience of the final cup. That curiosity about plants and preparation led me to study herbal medicine.
I studied naturopathy, herbal medicine, and nutrition full-time for four years, graduating in 2012 with a Bachelor of Naturopathy, Diploma of Herbal Medicine, and Diploma of Nutrition.
Throughout my career, I’ve worked with herbs in many forms, with a particular focus on production herbalism - creating teas, extracts, and other herbal products. My experience includes compounding plant extracts at Urban Botanica, managing the herbal dispensary, clinic and shop at Tonic Room, formulating botanical products for other businesses, and creating the Forage and Bloom tea range.
My goal with Forage and Bloom was to make therapeutic teas more delicious and accessible - creating blends that combine traditional herbal knowledge with great flavour and everyday usability. From 2014 to the end of 2025 (when I moved away from supplying my commercial tea range), Forage and Bloom’s signature blends have found their way into homes, cafes, restaurants, retail stores, spas, and salons around the country. I love knowing that so many people have shared a cup of Forage and Bloom tea as part of their everyday ritual.
Alongside my tea work, I manufacture botanical plant extracts for use in topical and cosmetic formulations, supplying high-quality herbal ingredients for brands incorporating plant extracts into their own natural products.
After nearly two decades immersed in herbal medicine, I remain fascinated by the process of transforming plants into something people can use and enjoy - understanding each herb’s characteristics, selecting appropriate preparation methods, and creating thoughtfully made herbal products.
Today, Forage and Bloom continues to evolve through two areas I’m passionate about: herbal tea blending workshops and botanical extracts.
The workshops allow me to share the skills and creativity behind tea blending in a hands-on way, while my extract work keeps me connected to the practical side of herbal manufacturing and creating plant-based ingredients for topical and cosmetic formulations.
Outside of Forage and Bloom, I’m now based in Tauranga, closer to family after previously living in Auckland. I love spending time in nature, walking up hills and along the beautiful beach with Chloe, my Bichon Frise.
I’m a big believer in the small everyday rituals that help us slow down and reconnect - whether that’s a good cup of tea, time outside, spending time with loved ones, or creating space to enjoy the little moments that make life feel good.
