Nestled in the Queen Charlotte Sounds, is a slice of paradise. We sat down with our friends at Bay of Many Coves to hear more about thier story and what lights up their day.
Q. What lies at the heart of your business?
A. The waterfront location, and our staff who are all here to give our guests the best most relaxing retreat in our little slice of paradise.
Q. Tell us something unique about the people behind your brand.
A. We are proudly NZ owned and operated, with the Gould family being our owners since 2009. Nigel and Janine Gould have always loved the Marlborough Sounds. As newlyweds, they often holidayed in the area, and have since spent more time sailing and discovering the winding waterways that make up this unique region. On one occasion, as they explored the Queen Charlotte Sound, they pulled into a small bay called Bay of Many Coves. Nigel and Janine discovered a resort, tucked away between the bush and the sea, totally off the beaten track. They picked up a mooring and stayed two nights. It was love at first sight: the location, the tranquillity, the light dancing on the water at dusk… The year was 2009.
Q. How long have you been in business?
A. The resort was built in the early 2000’s, and the current owners purchased the resort in 2009, transforming the resort into the internationally renowned luxury hotel that we are today.
Q. Why did you choose to partner with Forage and Bloom?
A. The brand ties in well who we are, our ethos and what we look for in our suppliers – sustainable, handcrafted, locally made etc. Our guests will really enjoy these, and being organic is an added bonus too.
Q. Do you have a favourite Forage and Bloom tea?
A. We really enjoy the Repose tea, a lovely little relaxing bed time Chamomile based tea for our guests.
