An aromatic member of the ginger family, cardamon is a warming herb prized for both its flavour and medicinal properties. 

The seed are rich in volatile oils, which help to give the herb its gastro-protective properties, making it an effective remedy in cases of digestive upsets. Cardamon helps to stimulate the production of digestive enzymes, helping to encourage efficient digestion and balance out excess acidity. 

It also also helpful in clearing excess mucus from the respiratory system, and is often paired with other herbs such as ginger and cinnamon for a warming and tonifying beverage.
